Anti-sweating

Under arm and facial sweating is a source of embarrassment and concern for many of us. The body sweats for a number of reasons, and sweating is a normal function. When we sweat we help the body regulate heat and remove toxins from the body. However sometimes we sweat more than is necessary. Fortunately there are a number of treatments available to help alleviate excessive sweating. At Central Wagga Medical and Skin Clinic, we offer injections into the sweat glands of the arm pits, hands and around the hair line, to effectively reduce the activity of the sweat glands and stop sweating from these areas

We can treat anywhere you sweat too much! Most commonly we treat the underarm area, hands, feet and the hairline.

At Central Wagga Medical and Skin clinic we use botulinum toxin to reduce the activity of sweat glands. This is a safe and effective way to treat excessive sweating.

There are other options available, including a prescription of a high aluminium solution that you can apply to the skin. Many patients are concerned about the effects of aluminium on the body, so if you would like to discuss the risk and benefits of various treatments, please discuss this with your doctor.

The injections work by reducing the function of the nerves that stimulate sweating. Only the nerves at the injection sites will be affected.

We use very fine needles for the injections, and the procedure is very well tolerated.
If desired, topical numbing cream can be applied to the area first.

One of our doctors will go through the procedure with you to make sure it is right for you and you understand the procedure completely.

The area to be treated will be cleaned and marked out, then small injections will be made (about 10-20 depending on the size of the area being treated). After that ice can be applied to the area and then you are good to go! The procedure usually takes about 15 minutes.

Yes, botulinum toxin has been used in medical procedures for over 15 years and has a high safety record.

The treatment is temporary, as the body metabolises the product over time. The recommended frequency of injections is  every 4-6 months. However many patients go a year or more between treatments.

This depends on how much product is used. In most instances the cost is $750.
The price will be discussed with you prior to your treatment.
